NWsource, FORT DISCOVERY - FIREARMS INSTRUCTION THE SURVIVAL SHOTGUN WHERE: FORT DISCOVERY WHEN: SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, JUNE 8 & 9, 2013 (TWO DAYS) TIME: 0900 - 1600 COST: $395.00 This class explores the shotgun as a nearly-universal survival firearm, the one weapon that fills most of the shooter’s needs in a survival situation. We will train in and understand the strengths and limitations of this outstanding tool. At the conclusion of the class, the student will know how to fit the shotgun to the shooter; know the wide range of loads available; how to load, run, mount to the shoulder, and shoot effectively. The shooter will be able to select and load the appropriate round for the task at hand in short time frames, engage targets at ranges to 100 yards, fight effectively with buckshot, and use various shot loads for small game. The shooter will also have an introduction to the use of less-than-lethal rounds, flares, gas, and cracker shells. EQUIPMENT: Each shooter will need a quality pump shotgun with an 18 to 20 inch barrel; normal range equipment; a quality handgun with ammunition, holster, magazines or speed loaders. He will need 250 rounds of birdshot, 50 buckshot, and 25 slugs. INSTRUCTOR: The class will be taught by Jeff Hall. Jeff is a retired Alaska State Trooper, former paratrooper, NRA staff instructor, and survival author and consultant. INTRODUCTION TO THREAT AWARENESS & DEFENSIVE WEAPONS: WHERE: FORT DISCOVERY WHEN: SATURDAY, JUNE 22, 2013 TIME: 0900-1500 COST: $125.00 *This is an entry level course classroom only and great course for beginners! Our Introduction to Threat Awareness & Defensive Weapons will give you the confidence you need when making a split second decision to save your life or the life of another. This course focuses on Jeff Coopers threat index and how to detect a threat prior to the event. This will give you the upper hand on how and what defensive measures to employ. The course will also explore several types of weapons, which will include Knives, Tasers and Firearms. Other topics include care, cleaning, storage and your legal rights. BASIC HANDGUN 1.0: Our basic handgun course picks up where Introduction to Threat Awareness & Defensive Weapons leaves off. Here we help you establish a foundation of gun handling and marksmanship skills. It will give you confidence and skills that you can continue to build on. WHERE: FORT DISCOVERY WHEN: SUNDAY, JUNE 23, 2013 TIME: 0900-1600 COST: $150.00 BASIC HANDGUN 1.1: This course will build on what you learned on Basic handgun 1.0 and was developed to give you more trigger time on the range. The course will also focus on presentation, site picture, reloading, and malfunction drills. WHERE: FORT DISCOVERY WHEN: FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 2013 TIME: 0900-1600 COST: $150.00 *Students will either need to have attended Basic Handgun 1.0 or be able to prove their gun handling skills prior to course commencement with a Fort Discovery instructor. Note pad and two pens. Sack lunch and bottled water (2). Holster, if you are bringing a pistol. Two magazines or speed loaders. 200 rounds of ammunition. Rifle or shotgun, depending on the class. Sling required. *Students should be prepared to sign a hold harmless.
